Geneva motor show

Geneva has been always vital motor show in the automotive calendar. Auto companies focus to show new technologies, design elements and language. Some of the trends we have picked up from this year’s show is as follows.
Exterior design trends
Dual tonality is the one of the strongest trends.  The unique idea of splitting the car body into two tone for highlighting features, elements and details . Car models like Renault Captur, Kia provo  and Pininfarina Sergio concept have applied dual tonality in a new way.  This kind of treatment gives cars more lighter feeling and adds more dynamism.
Graphics line gap feature is a new trend that we have seen. Interestingly in the past gaps or larger spaces in  between body panels was seen as bad manufacturing as well as design quality. However treating gaps between body panels as graphic element is more intelligent way of disguising them.  We have seen supercars like La Ferrari, MclarenP1  treating their bodywork in this new way. Surely it will inspire automakers to look at this new trend.
Lamps with vent is new way to make cars look clean and simple. With ever-growing technology complicated details like this are possible and designers can go crazy with their design ideas.
Interior Design trend
Floating interior surfaces is the only strong design trend we have seen in the interiors. This days interiors gaining  more attention in terms of surfaces treatment and complex forms. One of the designers dream is to create to interiors with layered sensuality, with this advancement in design engineering , ideas like this will take shape in future.

Geneva Motor Show 2013

                                           Toyota i road concept

Toyota's concept 'i road' is like a bike disguised in a cars body. This fun new electric concept vehicle is a 3 wheeler with some quite unique features like its mono headlamp and its new wheel tilting system. And it just might what we need to skip through heavy city traffics. A radical take on solving the modern day inter city commuting issues.

                                           Lamborghini Veneno

This Aventador based monster costs €3 million! and only 3 will be made. All of which have been pre-sold. This super car uses some of the most innovative new materials adding to its brilliant body work which helps it to stay grounded on tracks. Top speed is claimed to be 221mph.

                                                  LaFerrari

The new Ferrari presented at the show is officially called LA Ferrari(''The'' Ferrari) and is a replacement for the Enzo. The super car is beautifully styled by Ferrari's in-house design studio, and will be powered by a 6.3 litre v12 engine.Only 499 of these Ferraris will be made and priced at £1 million each.

                  Kia Provo Concept

Definitely one of the eye catchers of the show. But the best part is that its a 'Hot Hatch'

The sleek, low, yet muscular coupe-style hatchback mixes a petrol-fueled turbo-charged engine with clever regenerative-electric motors to bring a smart-hybrid solution to this fun-focused concept that points to 'Kia Motors' future B-segment expansion plans.

                                               Mclaren P1

The production version of the P1 was revealed at the show since the concept debuted in Paris motor show. Claimed top speed is 218mph, and extensive wind tunnel development creates a maximum 600kg of downforce. McLaren will make 375 P1s, each costing £866,000. Definitely One of the most awaited supercars of this year.

                                                     VW XL1

Conceptually, the VW XL1 represents the third evolutionary stage of Volkswagen's 1-litre car strategy. The Volkswagen XL1 is the most fuel-efficient production car in the world, with a fuel consumption value of 0.9 l/100 km. The car follows pure sports car design principles: Low weight, aerodynamic body and a low centre of gravity to achieve maximum efficiency.

                                        Rolls Royce Wraith

In its design, Rolls-Royce Wraith presents a masterpiece of elegant simplicity, exuding poise and the promise of dynamism. There is a sense that this car is ready to move with purpose on its driver's command. "The purposeful fastback profile is Wraith's defining element. Inherent in this graceful line that sweeps from the top of the screen to the very rear edge, is the promise of fast, yet effortless touring." Says Giles Taylor, Design Director. Creating a visible distinction between a sporting GT and a true Rolls-Royce was very much key to the success of Wraith's modern design statement.

                                  Pininfarina Sergio Concept

For more than half a century, Sergio Pininfarina was the face, body, and soul of the design firm that carries his family’s name. Pininfarina passed away last July 3 at age 85, and his firm is using this year’s Geneva Motor Show to unveil a concept car in his honour. Based on a Ferrari 458, the Sergio is said to be a barchetta or "little boat," which is very much in the Ferrari tradition. Carrying the standard 458 drivetrain, the Sergio has 570 horsepower from its 4.5-liter V-8, and Pininfarina estimates a 0-to-62-mph run of less than 3.4 second. Top speed is said to be 199 mph.
