Honda's basket

Honda released no less than 8 different concepts at this year's Tokyo Autoshow. These included the Honda AC-X hybrid car, the Honda EV-ster, Motocompo electric scooter, the Micro Commuter Concept and 4 different variants of the Honda N-Box. Here's our lowdown on some of these.

Honda N-Box Concepts

Honda released 4 variants of the N-Box which is scheduled for a mid-December launch. It is expected to put up an aggressive fight in the buzzing Japanese Kei car market, with its attractive size and market positioning. Its simple, cuboid-with-wheels design and a functional interior fits it right into the Japanese trend of which Nissan Juke and Scion XB etc.

Honda EV-Ster

A diminutive electric sports car is what the EV-Ster is. Just 170mm above the Japanese Kei car regulations, the EV-Ster is claimed to be an exercise in Honda's next-gen styling. The design was however found to be too inorganic and even busy at places.

Honda AC-X

The AC-X is Honda's four door, hybrid entry to Tokyo. Dressed in the standard Honda white, and sporting a blue LEDs lit site strip, the AC-X did feature some interesting details. Surely, the LED side strip was one of them, but even the rims with the blue highlight conveyed the hybrid aspect and impressed with their execution.

Honda Micro Commuter Concept

The MCC featured some very futuristic styling and impressed with its stance and proportions. Aimed at a future urban scenario, the MCC seats one and is meant as an electric zip-around. We feel the MCC would make a lot of sense. Its a pity the styling looks very far from production and Honda might not even make an attempt at ever selling it.

Electric scooters and other mobility solutions

Honda made clear its ambitions of being a company that offers sustainable and inclusive mobility solutions for everyone. Apart from the utilitarian N-Box and the sporty EV-Ster, these mobility solutions offered a wide array of concepts from the Honda stable.
